Attorney David Humphreys has more than two decades’ experience in construction law and business transactions. Prior to joining Carson Law Group in 2016, David was a partner at another business litigation firm and, for a couple of years, C.O.O. and General Counsel at an energy company. David attended law school at Ole Miss in the late 1990s, after working two years as a Certified Public Accountant at KPMG.
David regularly represents builders, subcontractors, owners, and design professionals in construction defect litigation and insurance coverage matters. David and his team at Carson Law Group recently developed an innovative argument in favor of insurance coverage for home builders, which, in several recent cases, has convinced insurers to cover construction defect claims that were previously denied. The new argument is gaining national attention, as David has written articles on it published recently by National Association of Home Builders, American Subcontractor Association, and the Construction Defect Journal. David also presented the new argument to NAHB’s Construction Liability and Risk Management Committee at this year’s IBS in Las Vegas.
David’s law firm, Carson Law Group, is based in Jackson, Mississippi, with attorneys licensed to practice in Mississippi, Texas, Arkansas, Tennessee, and Georgia. He and wife, Kim, live in Madison, Mississippi, and have two daughters: Megan, a first-year medical student, and Claire, a junior accounting major at Ole Miss.
